Modern Majority
The Florida Region area group of the Ferrari Club of America, held their third Mini
Miglia gathering based around The Plantation Resort on Amelia Island. Each year
they chose a different venue in Florida for the spring gathering, and this year
decided to incorporate a visit to the blossoming Amelia Island Concours in the
itinerary. The majority of the cars in attendance were modern examples, including
an F40, a pair each of 360 Modenas and 550 Maranellos, whilst the older end of the
spectrum was represented by the 250 GT SWB California Spider, chassis number
1883GT, of Everett Singer.
Redman Recollections
The group of around sixty members and partners gathered at the Plantation on the
Friday evening, where dinner was taken at the Walker’s Landing Beach Club to the
accompaniment of a live band. After the dinner, the guest speaker was introduced,
one time F1 and successful works sports racing team driver for Ferrari and
Porsche, Brian Redman. He enthralled the assembly with the highs and lows of his
long and illustrious racing career, which he still pursues to this day with a driving
school and historic race outings.
