Ferrari Star Flees
The RM Auction held as part of the Amelia Island Concours attracted a fine selection of automobiles to the north-east Florida venue. Unfortunately for Ferrari enthusiasts one of the star lots was sold prior to auction, this being the 410 Superamerica Pinin Farina coupe, chassis number 0501SA. However, there was still the ex-Pedro Rodriguez 1966 275 GTB/C, and a few Ferrari road cars, along with a couple of pre-war Alfa Romeos to sustain interest.

High Numbers
Probably the most flamboyant offering in the auction was the 1939 Bugatti T37C cabriolet coutured by Van Vooren, with graceful flowing lines emanating from the classic Bugatti grille. This car was a wedding present from the French nation to Prince Pahlevi of Iran, and sold for $1.6 million. Even higher up the cash register scale was the bright red 1935 Mercedes Benz 500K Special Roadster, which achieved $2.7 million.
