Maranello 3 July 2022

A win-filled weekend and the first major GT championship title of the season for Prancing Horse with the victory laurels clinched by Pierre Alexandre Jean and Ulysse de Pauw in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Sprint Cup in the Silver class, as well as triumphs in the DTM and ELMS.

GT World Challenge Europe
With one round to spare, Pierre Alexandre Jean and Ulysse de Pauw became Silver Cup champions in the Sprint series. The Franco-Belgian duo, making their series debut, notched up a fifth win of the season at Misano, topped off with two second and a third places, handing the AF Corse crew the title with one round still to race. The first laurels for Ferrari in this class came after a race decided in the latter stages, after the Safety Car – prompted by a multiple car incident mid pack – in the final moments of the race.

DTM
Felipe Fraga sealed a maiden victory in the DTM in the Red Bull Alphatauri AF Corse-run 488 GT3 Evo 2020 thanks to an authoritative race at the Norisring. The Brazilian brought success back to Ferrari in the German series after Liam Lawson’s legitimate title ambitions had vanished on the very same track last season. Fraga, celebrating his birthday today, having taken pole position in the morning’s qualifying session, commanded the race from the gantry lights through to the chequered flag. Seventh place went to Ayhancan Guven, replacing Nick Cassidy who was engaged elsewhere in Formula E.

ELMS
Davide Rigon, Matteo Cressoni and Claudio Schiavoni secured the win in the LMGTE class at the end of the 4 Hours of Monza, the third round of the European Le Mans Series. The Italian trio drove Iron Lynx’s 488 GTE to victory at the end of a very intense and thrilling race. Rigon produced a splendid last-gasp comeback that not even a quick fuel top-up, five minutes from the chequered flag, was able to prevent. Third place went to the Kessel Racing 488 GTE driven by Takeshi Kimura, Frederik Schandorff and Mikkel Jensen.

Palmares
For the 488 GT3, in both regular and Evo 2020 versions, this represents a 107 title since 2016, while the victory tally now stands at 463
