Paris, 25th April, 2022
Finally, we are back in Paris in April for this year’s Tour Auto.
After the last summer edition, the tour through the French
countryside went back to its usual date in April when Paris is
surrounded by the yellow rape fields that should become our
background for the next days.
231 cars were entered at this year’s edition and as the Grand
Palais is still not finished after its renovation the cars were lined
up in the parc d´exposition that hosted the Retromobile earlier in
March. The field is again a very colorful mix of cars although one
has to acknowledge that the overall quality is slightly reduced to
the Tours a decade ago when several Ferrari 12 cylinders were
lined up. The days of several Ferrari 250 GTO are long gone but
we are now down to a single 250 GT SWB, two Lussos and 5 275
GTBs, cars you could barely count years ago. It is very obvious
that the reliable Porsche 911 has taken over the rally as most of
the competition cars are coming from Stuttgart, but with a single
904 also the times of the prototypes is gone. On the earlier side
the Jaguar E-Type and several AC Cobras are the usual suspects
for the aim of the overall victory.
