For those who have visited Modena regularly over the years, it is relatively easy to find
all the points of interest for the motoring enthusiast. However, for those who have no
knowledge of the area, perhaps don’t speak Italian, or for whom it may be a one-off
trip from the other side of the globe, it could be a daunting experience. No fear, help is
at hand!
There is a Modena based hotel and restaurant association called Modenatur, which
was formed in 1996 to promote the wide range of attractions that the area has to offer
the visitor. To ”petrol heads” Modena means fast cars, but there are many other
delights for the traveller, cultural, culinary, and scenic amongst them. Thus offering a
number of great excuses to get the ”significant other” to join you on a visit to the area
In 1998 Modenatur formed a travel organisation called Wiligelmo to organise both
regular and tailor made visits of varying duration to the region, for both private
individuals and corporate clients.
The picture galleries show part of the scope of visits that they can organise, these
were based on a regular ”motoring experience” tour, with some ”cultural” images for
good measure, and took in the private Panini and Righini car collections, the De
Tomaso and Stanguellini Museums, plus of course the Galleria Ferrari in Maranello.
To strike a balance they can take in the cultural aspects, with visits to significant towns
in the region using knowledgeable guides to explain, whilst there knowledge of the
local cuisine means that you will experience the very best of the traditional local food
and wine. A further benefit of their intimate local knowledge is that they will take
routes, and show you places along the way, that even seasoned visitors are unaware
of.
Further details of the services that they provide can be found on their website
