German team Wieth Racing had been well prepped for the first entry of their 550
GTS in the FIA GT Championship in the series’ first 2001 event at Monza, held on
April 1st. But the stewards of the meeting and the race director unfortunately forced
Wieth Racing to withdraw the 550 GTS because of suspension parts which were
reportedly not conforming to the regulations.
According to team manager Florian Hebel, Wieth Racing will do everything possible
to solve these problems till April 16, when the series’ second event will be held at
Brno in the Czech Republic.
