Maranello, May 2007 - On Wednesday, 30th May, the baton - which has been carried
around the globe by over 10,000 Ferraristi in their cars from every era - will officially
arrive in Italy. By then the baton, with its 60 symbols - representing the most important
events in the history of the brand - has traversed the five continents.
Along the way from Sicily in the South to the Alps in the North and eventually arriving at
the headquarters in Maranello on 23rd June, the Ferrari 60 Relay will continue
collecting objects dedicated to Ferrari, representing the countries and the Italian
regions, which have been passed by the Tour: such as a shirt from Brazil signed by
Pelé, or a 60 cm high Russian matryoshka, containing additional 30, and a helmet
made out of ceramics, signed by Michael Schumacher, which had been handed over
in Berlin.
The more than 50 objects will be exposed in Rome at the Farnesina, the building of
the foreign ministry, on 16th June, and will be handed over to Ferrari in an official
ceremony. The entire collection will then be sold at a charity auction in Maranello on
23rd June.
Ferrari 60 Relay - The Italian Stages
The first stage of the Ferrari 60 Relay on Italian soil will start on 30th May in Sicily,
attended by a very special participant: the first "torchbearer" will be the former racing
driver Nino Vaccarella in a 275 P2, the Ferrari, with which he won the Targa Florio in
the year 1965 together with Lorenzo Bandini. The car will pass the most significant
places of this legendary race, recalling unforgettable moments. The memorable year
of 1965 is also represented by a symbol on the Ferrari baton. On Thursday, 31st May,
after the stops in Palermo and Catania, the Tour will arrive in Ragusa, where the new
Ferrari agent, Cronos, will be inaugurated. In the newly-created building the Dino 166
F2, the car, which won the edition of the Temporada Argentina in the year 1968 with
Andrea De Adamich behind the wheel, will be exposed. The former driver and current
executive director of the Ferrari driving courses will be present at the event.
The following stages will lead to Bari, Ancona, San Marino, Perugia, Prato, Siena,
Florence, Brescia, Milan, Turin, Genoa, Porto Cervo, Cagliari, Salerno and the Amalfi
Coast, Capri and Anacapri, Rome, Vallelunga, Lugo di Romagna, Venice, Bolzano,
Verona, Bologna and eventually Modena, on 21st June.
Ferrari 60 Relay - The Final Celebrations in Maranello
On Thursday, 21st June, the five days of the final celebrations of the 60th anniversary of
the Prancing Horse will start with a day, dedicated to the media and the technological
innovations of Ferrari. On the race track of Fiorano a series of shows will be held with
the cars from Ferrari and the clients of the brand: such as the arrival of the Relay -
scheduled for 23rd June, while around 1,500 "red" cars will be displayed around the
track - and the charity auction, but also the first official Ferrari Concours d'Elégance,
with the participation of 80 cars from every era of the history of Ferrari, on 24th June. On
25th June the 7th edition of the Podio Ferrari, the event, with which Ferrari honours its
best suppliers, takes place.
Ferrari 60 Relay in Apulia
Bari, 2nd June 2007 - After crossing Sicily, on Saturday, 2nd June, the "Ferrari 60
Relay" left in the direction of Apulia. The Ferrari clients and their cars met at the Radicci
dealership in Bari, from where they left in the direction of Lecce. There the cars arrived
on Piazza Santa Croce, in the middle of Italian Baroque, passing also the fascinating
Piazza Sant'Oronzo.
In the afternoon the Nardò circuit opened its gates for the first time to a group of a car
manufacturer's clients, who drove around it in a parade. The Nardò race track is
usually used by all car manufacturers to secretly test prototypes of new models.
The following stages will lead to Perugia, Prato, Siena, Florence, Brescia, Milan, Turin,
Genoa, Porto Cervo, Cagliari, Salerno and the Amalfi coast, Capri and Anacapri,
Rome, Vallelunga, Lugo di Romagna, Venice, Bolzano, Verona, Bologna and, on 21st
June, to Modena.
Ferrari 60 Relay in Marche and San Marino
Ancona, 2nd June 2007 - After crossing Sicily, on Saturday, 2nd June, the "Ferrari 60
Relay" left in the direction of the Marche region. The participating Ferrari clients and
their cars met at the Poltrona Frau offices in Tolentino, the prestigious manufacturer of
the leather interior of the Ferrari Gran Turismo cars. President Franco Moschini
welcomed the participants, who later on had the possibility to visit the works, before
they left in the direction of Marche's capital Ancona, where the cars arrived on Piazza
del Papa at around 13:00h.
The Relay also passed the Republic of San Marino, where the Ferraristi were
welcomed at the Maranello Rosso Musei by Sandra Lodi, Maranello Rosso's
administrator, and by Secretary of State Paride Andreoli.
The passing of the baton from Italy's ambassador to San Marino, Fabrizio Santurro, to
Fabrizio Violati, racing driver and dear friend of Enzo Ferrari, has been a very special
and emotional moment.
Ferrari 60 Relay in Umbria
Perugia, 4th June 2007 - Sicily, Apulia and Marche have already been crossed, so now
it is time for the "Ferrari 60 Relay" to visit Umbria with its marvellous treasures.
Today, the Tour started at 09:30h at the De Poi dealership and carried the baton to
Perugia to Piazza 4 Novembre (at around 10:30h), where the participants and the cars
were welcomened by representatives of the authorities at the Palazzo dei Priori.
In the afternoon the participants visited the works of Perugina in San Sisto, where the
delicious gift has been officially handed over to Ferrari, which will be auctioned for
charity in Maranello: a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti to scale 1:5, completely made out of
chocolate.
The day will end with the Tour leaving in the direction of the Magione circuit (at around
17:00h), where the cars will be able to drive on the track.
Ferrari 60 Relay in Tuscany
Siena, 5th June 2007 - After leaving the hills of the Umbria region behind, the "Ferrari
60 Relay" is now on its way in the direction of the gentle scenery of Tuscany. Today the
cars will start at the Leone di Prato dealership and the Ferrari owners will leave in the
direction of Siena. The Tour will drive through the hills to Radda in Chianti and
Impruneta, eventually arriving in Florence, where the cars from Ferrari will be
welcomened at the legendary Circolo Canottieri, not far from Ponte Vecchio, which will
be the backdrop of a regatta with historical canoes.
The Ferrari 60 Relay will proceed tomorrow in the direction of the Lombardy region with
stops in Brescia and Milan.
Ferrari 60 Relay: Ferrari Store on Piazza Liberty in Milan welcomes celebrations for
60 years of the Prancing Horse
Milan, 5th June 2007 - On Saturday, 9th June, the "Ferrari 60 Relay" will arrive in Milan,
where more than 50 cars of the brand from Maranello will drive through the streets of
this Northern Italian metropolis, while the youngest fans of the Prancing Horse can
participate in an event, especially created for them, at the Ferrari Store on Piazza
Liberty.
For the whole day - from 10 am to 6 pm - the Ferrari Store in Milan will offer numerous
initiatives, organized in collaboration with Microsoft, Carrera, Mjx-Meijaxin Toys and
Carpigiani, on the square in front of the store, where booths are set up for the event.
At the XBOX 360 stand, motorsport fans can race against each other with the new
Forza Motorsport2, the latest simulation racing game for the XBOX 360 platform. The
participants can drive like authentic Ferrari drivers on one of the 60 circuits, which are
available on the XBOX, while Forza Motorspot2 is actually the most complete race
simulator.
At another stand, showing the spectacular CARRERA race tracks, visitors can race
with electrical cars from Ferrari and participate in a mini-tournament, held during the
day.
Furthermore MEIJAXIN TOYS offers the possibility to play with its new remote-
controlled models to scale 1:10: the Ferrari F430 Spider, Enzo Ferrari, 599 GTB
Fiorano and Ferrari F430 GT.
For the foodies amongst the visitors there is the CARPIGIANI booth, where ice cream
is handed out for free all day long to all the participants.
Ferrari 60 Relay in Brescia
Brescia, 7th June 2007 - Today the Italian journey of the Ferrari 60 Relay stops in
Brescia: At 09h the Ferrari clients on board of their cars come together at the Mille
Miglia museum, followed by a visit of the arms factory of Piero Beretta and the private
collection in Gardone Val Trompia. Later on the Tour drives in the direction of the new
Kilometro Rosso Techology and Science Park in Stezzano, in the province of Bergamo.
The visit features a tour into the divisions in charge for the creation and realization of
the braking plants in carboceramics, that are installed on Ferrari cars and the
sperimental divisions where endurance, performance and duration tests of Brembo
braking sistems are executed.
Ferrari 60 Relay in Milan
Milan, 8th June 2007 - After more than 50 cars of the brand with the Prancing Horse
stopped in front of the Ferrari Store on Piazza Liberty on today, Friday, 8th June, on
Saturday, 9th June, the famous Piazza Duomo will be host for Ferrari and the start of
the 7th stage of the Italian leg of the "Ferrari 60 Relay". The cars of the Tour, which will
carry the baton with its 60 symbols from the history of Ferrari, will drive through the
metropolis' streets and will stop in Via Montenapoleone for an aperitif at the Damiani
boutique. After dropping by at the new Rossocorsa dealership (on Via dei Missaglia
89), the cars will leave in the direction of Monza, for a photo session on the legendary
Parabolica at the Autodromo.
Sunday, 10th June, the Relay will start the stage of the day at the Rossocorsa
dealership early in the morning, when the cars drive in the direction of Vergiate, to visit
the Agusta Westland works, the legendary helicopter manufacturer. With such a
helicopter the baton will be brought to Turin, the following stage of its journey through
Italy.
Ferrari 60 Relay in Turin
Turin, 10th June 2007 - On Sunday, 10th June, the Ferrari 60 Relay baton was brought
to Turin's Lingotto by helicopter from Agusta Westland in Vergiate. From there, the cars
from Ferrari, waiting on the track, departed in the direction of Langhe via Pralormo,
Canale, Montà d'Alba and Guarene and eventually arrived in Barolo.
The Tour will also stop at Pininfarina: On Monday, 11th June, Mr. Sergio Pininfarina will
welcome the Relay at the company's headquarters in Cambiano, where the
participants of the Tour will be on the spot for a special "designer performance" by one
of Pininfarina's planners.
Ferrari 60 Relay in Genoa
Genoa, 12th June 2007 - Having left Piedmont, the Ferrari 60 Relay is now on its way
to Liguria. The Ferrari cars and the participating clients met at the Ferrari Showroom
Team Forza in Ceriale (SV).
The Tour will leave in the direction of Genoa's old harbour, where the baton will be
passed on and brought to Sardinia by the Swan 70 "Bugia Bianca".
Ferrari 60 Relay in Sardinia
Cagliari, 13th June 2007 - On Wednesday, 13th June, the Ferrari 60 Relay will arrive in
Sardinia, after the Tour has already passed Sicily, Apulia, Marche and a large part of
Northern Italy, including Lombardy, Piedmont and Liguria. The cars from Ferrari and
the clients will meet at Porto Cervo, where they will wait, together with representatives
of the local authorities, for the baton to arrive from Genoa. The Tour will then leave in
the direction of Oristano at around 14:30h.
From there the Relay will drive to Cagliari, where the cars will stop at the authorized GT
Motors. garage, where the baton will be passed on before the cars drive through the
wonderful streets of this city eventually arriving at the harbour at the Molo Sanità. In the
evening the Ferraristi will participate in a soiree with music and fireworks.
Ferrari 60 Relay in Campania
Salerno, 14th June 2007 - On Thursday, 14th June, the Ferrari 60 Relay, after the
Sardinian stage, will eventually arrive in Amalfi. At 14:30h the city's Doge, in a typical
costume, will receive the baton and pass it on to the Ferraristi, waiting at the harbour.
After a cocktail on Piazza del Duomo the cars will leave in the direction of Salerno,
driving along the marvelous Amalfi coastline. In Salerno the cars will eventually arrive
at the Cesarmeccanica dealership. At 18:00h the Ferraristi will take part in a
discussion about "F1 yesterday, today and tomorrow - the success of Ferrari" together
with Cesare Fiorio (former head of the Ferrari Motorsport division from 1989 to 91) and
Federica Balestrieri, host of RAI's program "Pole Position". Host of the meeting is RAI
journalist Gianfranco Coppola. At 19:30h the guests will leave in the direction of the city
centre, where they will be welcomened by the local authorities on Piazza della
Concordia. The day will be concluded with fireworks accompanied by music.
The following day, Friday, 15th June, at 9:30h, the baton, representing 60 years of
Ferrari, will be brought to Capri by three cars from Ferrari, stopping on the Piazzetta
and eventually leaving for Anacapri at 11:30h. At both stops the cars and the
participants will be welcomened by local authorities, while also the traditional photo
will be taken.
Ferrari 60 Relay in Lugo di Romagna
Lugo di Romagna, 18th June 2007 - After the celebrations in the Italian capital and the
presentation of the gifts from all the stages around the world at the weekend
(auctioned over the upcoming weekend in Maranello), the cars of the Ferrari 60 Relay
left in the direction of Lugo di Romagna.
The Tour will arrive on Piazza della Rocca at around 17:00h, where the participants will
visit the Francesco Baracca Museum, who was the man, from whom Enzo Ferrari
received the symbol of the Prancing Horse.
Lugo di Romagna, a village in the Emilia-Romagna region, has a long tradition as far
as Ferrari is concerned: it is not only the birthplace of the aviator Baracca, but also the
place of one of the most important Scuderia Ferrari Clubs, with Giovanni Baracca -
descendant of Francesco - amongst its members. The Club arranges the "Festa del
Cavallino Rampante", which is held every year at the end of April.
Ferrari 60 Relay tomorrow in Venice
Maranello, 18th June 2007 - On one of its final stages around the world the baton
arrives in the lagoon of Venice: On Tuesday, 19th June, at 15:30h, the Ferraristi will
drive down the Lido, led by a 125 Sport, and at 17:00h the participants will meet the
dean of Ca' Foscari University at the Sala Scarpa. After a ride through the narrow alleys
the cars will stop at the Ferrari Store (Mercerie San Marco 782) and visit the Damiani
boutique (San Marco 1494, Salizada San Moisé); at 19:30h the cars will turn from
Piazza San Marco back to the Lido, where at the Nicelli airfield a cocktail will be waiting
for the participants.
Ferrari 60 Relay tomorrow at Verona
Maranello, 19th June 2007 - The conclusive moments of the journey around the world
have arrived and the Ferrari 60 Relay eventually reaches the Alps: On Wednesday, 20th
June, the cars from Ferrari and the participating clients will meet on Piazza del
Municipio in Bolzano at 12:00h. From there the Tour will leave in the direction of
Andalo, Fai della Paganella, Lake Molveno, eventually arriving in Riva del Garda. From
here the cars will drive southbound along the lake, stopping at Brenzone Castle and
arriving on Verona's Piazza Brà at around 19:00h The last stage of the Ferrari 60 Relay,
on Thursday, 21st June, leads from Bologna to Modena.
Final stage for the Ferrari 60 Relay
Maranello, 19th June 2007 - It is the final stage for the Ferrari 60 Relay, eventually
arriving at its birthplace: on Thursday, 21st June, the cars and clients of Ferrari will
meet at San Luca, in Bologna, at 10:30h, and leave in the direction of Modena, driving
along via Bazzanese and passing Vignola and Spilamberto (where the group will
stop); from here the cars take via Vignolese, eventually arriving in Modena: the cars
from Ferrari will then drive through the streets of the city centre at around 16:00h and
arrive at the Carrozzeria Scaglietti at 16:30h.
