Variety is the spice of life - The 32nd running of the Bologna Motor Show, sponsored by Barclaycard for the second year in succession, runs between 7 -16 December in the city�s Fiera complex, offering visitors a wide range of attractions as well as the traditional manufacturer�s displays. The main outdoor Shell Arena offered a wide variety of action on different days ranging from rally cars, through Ferrari F430 Challenge races to F1 demonstrations, just imagine the sound of those high revving V8 engines

Saturday is Laguna Seca day in a packed Monterey schedule! The raceway is a spectacular circuit, noted for the famous �corkscrew� bend, with great viewing facilities, high in the sandy hills between Monterey and Salinas, and always attracts a broad spectrum of great cars to do battle on the track.

The jewel in the crown of the whole Monterey events schedule is the Pebble Beach Concours d�Elegance, which wraps up the activities on the final Sunday. Friday is concours day once again! This time there is the choice between Concorso Italiano at The Black Horse Golf Club to the north of Monterey overlooking the Pacific Ocean, or The Quail at Quail Lodge in Carmel Valley � Decisions, Decisions!
In reality the decision had been made for me, as I had elected to judge for the Ferrari Club of America at Concorso Italiano, but given a free choice it is a difficult call. However, time permitting I wasn�t going to let it stop me from at least putting in appearance at The Quail.

After the Concours on The Avenue on Tuesday, Wednesday provided a day to see the sights on the Monterey peninsula, notably to take in the wonderfully scenic 17 mile Drive, with its spectacular rugged coastline, along with the other attractions of the area, like the aquarium, Cannery Row and the harbour in Monterey

Thursday morning kicks off with the Tour de Pebble Beach, where the automobiles entered in the Pebble Beach Concours participate in a scenic Touring Rally, taking lunch on Ocean Avenue in Carmel. Here the cars fill the street for a couple of hours, giving the public the opportunity to admire them without having to pay the entry fee to the concours on Sunday.

All started in 1969, when a Spyder version with light bands was displayed at the Frankfurt Motor Show (better known as IAA = Internationale Automobil Ausstellung). This was the open version of the 365 GTB/4 Berlinetta. It looked stunning in yellow and a black stripe. The prototype was created by Pininfarina, the production version was produced by Scaglietti. The Daytona Spyder was produced in limited numbers the production lasted until 1973 at that time 123 Scaglietti/Pininfarina Spyders were produced.
