At its 16th annual August sale as the official auction house of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance®,
Gooding & Company continued to offer only the highest quality cars and maintained the highest sell-through
rate for the week. In addition to selling four of the top ten sales across all auction houses and generating over
$76 million in total sales, the company also set significant world-auction records. The stars of the weekend
were most notably the 1975 Ferrari 312T and the 1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider. The Ferrari 312T
garnered thunderous applause from the packed tent when it sold for $6,000,000. This Grand Prix-winning
masterpiece qualified in pole position in each of the five races driven by the legendary driver Niki Lauda. The
California Spider was offered with highly desirable features that included covered headlights, Classiche
certification, numerous awards, a stunning color scheme, as well as period racing. One of only 50 original
long-wheelbase versions, this stunning automobile reached the final price of $9,905,000 to become not only
Gooding & Company’s biggest sale of the weekend, but for all of 2019 at auction.
