Other successes from the day include:
An even rarer 2007 Porsche Gemballa Mirage GT, one of only 25 produced, which sold for CHF 669,300.
Based on the Porsche Carrera GT, this ‘as new’ example was a one owner car, which had covered fewer
than 5000 kms.
A ‘matching’ pair of ‘as new’ Mercedes AMG SLS ‘Black Series’ Coupés, the high-performance variant of
the supercar tribute to the 1950s Mercedes-Benz Gullwing, achieved CHF 500,250 and CHF 494,500
respectively.
Another star supercar was a 2010 Lamborghini Murciélago LP 670-4 SV Coupé, which smashed its
top estimate of CHF 250,000, finally selling for an impressive CHF 339,250. Considered the ‘ultimate’
Murciélago, with SV standing for ‘Super Veloce’, this hypercar could reach a claimed top speed of 212mph
with the optional rear wing as fitted to this example – another supercar offered by its original owner with a
low odometer reading of 2,830 kms.
A collection of five Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG 4 x 4, the super luxury off-road vehicle, achieved a full
house with all successfully selling, led by a rare ‘Spirit of the Union’ model (one of 40) which realised CHF
121,900.
20th century classics also caught the attention of the Bonmont bidders:
A 1964 Maserati Mistral Spyder, one of only 125 convertibles produced of arguably the marque’s most
desirable models, achieved CHF 431,250. Delivered new to Switzerland, this motor car had been owned by
the same family since 1971.
Paul Darvill, Senior Specialist at Bonhams, said: “We were delighted to welcome motor car collectors and
enthusiasts back to the Bonhams saleroom. Switzerland has a very active collectors’ car market and, as
the only international auction house to currently host a sale in the country, we were pleased to have offered
such a diverse and tempting array of fine motor cars from all eras this weekend.”
As well as The Bonmont Sale, this weekend saw the first live auction for the Bonhams Motor Cars UK team
with the Bonhams MPH sale at Bicester Heritage.
James Knight, Bonhams Group Motoring Chairman, said: "We're very pleased that Bonhams has
successfully conducted traditional live sales across the continent this weekend. Some £9 million worth of
collectors’ motor cars were transacted by the Bonhams teams. The two auctions offered both ends of the
spectrum in terms of value and clearly demonstrated an active demand across the board. We now look
forward to our very active October series of sales in the UK, USA and Continental Europe.”
Bonhams’ forthcoming sales in the UK and Europe will be The Zoute Sale in Belgium on 11 October and
then at Goodwood the following weekend (17 October) as part of the one-off Goodwood SpeedWeek event.
