Amelia Island, Florida, 11th February 2022

Continuing the record-breaking 2022 auction season, RM Sotheby’s is proud to offer incredible automobiles from the turn of the century, through to today’s greatest sports cars. Leading the group is a trio of stunning hypercars. The trio consists of a ground-breaking 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari, a rare 2020 McLaren Speedtail, and a brutally fast 2019 Bugatti Chiron Sport.

Boasting the most extreme performance ever achieved by a Ferrari production car, the 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari features the most advanced features of any Ferrari to date. The extremely rare all-black livery LaFerrari is equipped with the F1-derived hybrid powertrain, which heralded a new era for supercar technology.

Boasting 576 miles at the time of cataloguing, the LaFerrari is estimated to sell for $3,600,000 to $4,000,000. Joining the Italian supercar is a fusion of science and art, the 2020 McLaren Speedtail. The Speedtail is known as the most aerodynamic and fastest car ever produced by McLaren. With each of the 106 examples being purchased by pre-selected customers before the model’s announcement, the availability of this Speedtail, number 87, offers an exciting opportunity to partake in the most advanced road-going vehicle that McLaren has built to date (Estimate: $2,600,000 - $3,000,000).

Rounding out the impressive trio is one of the most exclusive hypercars ever produced, the 2019 Bugatti Chiron Sport. One of approximately sixty Chiron Sport examples produced and wearing a striking color combination of Nocturne exterior over Beluga Black and Italian Red interior. The Chiron’s brutal performance provides 0-100 mph in 4.4 seconds. This once-in-a-lifetime Chiron is an exquisitely optioned, beautifully maintained example of the world-renowned hypercar and has a mere 3,950 miles on the clock. Documented with copy of original window sticker, service records, and receipts. Accompanied by owner’s manuals, Bugatti Chiron coffee table book, speed and valet keys, and model-specific USB drives. This Chiron Sport is the first example to ever be publicly sold at auction in North America and will be offered with no reserve (Estimate: $3,000,000 – $3,300,000).

The rebirth of the Bugatti marque was kick-started in the 1990s with the launch of the Bugatti EB110, then considered to be the world’s fastest production car. On offer at Amelia Island is the 1994 Bugatti EB110 GT Prototype, presenting an extremely rare opportunity to acquire an early example of one of these increasingly desired cars.

This EB110 GT is an extremely rare prototype used by the factory for promotional and exhibition purposes. Displaying ‘as new’ showroom quality, it’s no surprise that the EB110 shows only 680 miles of use. The impressive GT Prototype was ahead of its time, boasting ground-breaking technology, including a quad-turbocharged V-12 engine and all-wheel drive. This is a rare chance to own an iconic piece of Bugatti history (Estimate: $2,000,000 - $2,500,000).

Joining the hypercars is one of the finest, most significant Packards ever produced. An automobile that is spectacular in history, performance, and presentation. Such a magnificent Packard is extremely rare to find at auction and this 1934 Packard Twelve Individual Custom Convertible Victoria by Dietrich is one of just three known examples remaining today. The 1934 Packard will cross the block boasting excellent provenance along with show-winning history. This incredible Packard won First in Class and runner-up to Best of Show at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance after receiving a meticulous Concours Quality restoration completed by Stone Barn Restorations. One of the undoubted stars of the auction, the 1934 Packard offers a rare opportunity as they seldom come to market (Estimate: $3,750,000 - $4,500,000).

Other notable lots set to go under the hammer include one of 87 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwings produced in September 1955. Finished in period-correct Fire Engine Red over tan leather and treated to a thorough servicing by 300 SL specialist Rene Luteraan in August 2020 (Estimate: $1,500,000 - $1,650,000). The first of only 17 factory-delivered Turbo S “Package” examples to be built, and one of only two finished in Grand Prix White, this 1994 Porsche 911 Turbo S ‘Package’ hosts a beautiful light grey leather interior and boasts just over 13,000 miles from new. Completely original, this Porsche will go to its new owner with the window sticker, jack, tool kit, spare tire, owners history, and is being offered without reserve (Estimate: $900,000 - $1,200,000).

RM Sotheby’s is proud to offer a superb example of the famed Shelby Cobra. This 1964 Shelby 289 Cobra is well-documented, finished in the eye-catching delivery colors of Bright Blue over red, and benefits from continuous recorded ownership history dating back to the very beginning of its life. Thanks to a recently completed restoration, the Cobra has been returned to its delivery specification and appears in stunning condition, ready to take the world by storm—just as the acclaimed model first did when it roared onto the sports car scene six decades ago (Estimate: $1,100,000 - $1,300,000).

RM Sotheby’s 24th annual Amelia Island sale is set to take place during the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance on 5 March at the Ritz-Carlton, presenting more than 80 of the world’s most sought-after blue-chip automobiles.
