Looking
at the circumstances, the Scuderia Ferrari may
feel satisfied with the outcome of the 10th of 16
heats for the Formula One World Championship.
After an exciting race, Michael Schumacher ended
up on 3rd position while is teammate Eddie Irvine
came in on 4th.
Mika
Häkkinen had been in the lead right from the
start, but Schumacher could at least keep up with
the McLaren-Mercedes' pace.
When
the German tried to overtake after four laps, he
had to go through the gravel, losing his position
to Giancarlo Fisichella, just to regain it in the
very next lap. In his second trial to overtake
the fast Fin, Schumacher damaged his Ferrari F300
in a gravel field. When he entered the track
again after a necessary pitstop, he was back in
16th position only!
Being the probably best racer in the
world, Michael Schumacher started an exciting
chase for the lead and when the race was flagged
off after 71 laps, he found himself back on 3rd
behind the two McLarens.
