- Ferrari will
return to the GT championship
- Ferrari will
produce a number of F50s for the FIA GT
Championship. In 1999, this race series
will be only for the cars which were
formerly known as GT2, while the old GT1
class is called "GT Prototypes"
this season.
- The GT2 class
was dominated by the Chrysler Viper GTS
in 1998, but most of the private teams
relied on the Porsche 993 GT2. The F50
with its carbon fibre chassis will
bring new technology into the series, the
season opener is likely to be in April at
Oschersleben, Germany.
- The new cars
are said to be built by Michelotto.
