"In 1963, thru arrangements
made by Gordon Tatum, I acquired #0764 from Mr. Chinetti
by payment of fees amounting to approximately $900.oo.
My agreement with Tatum provided him with ownership of
the engine and not the chassis. During the year
following my purchase of the chassis, the
chassis was garaged on
the premises of Internal Combustion Engines, Inc, a
business established in Kensington, MD by partners
Gordon Tatum and Michael Earhart;
I was their first and sole employee. It was during this
period that the engine was removed and added to the
collections of Gordon Tatum. It was during the calendar
year 1964 that I sold the chassis to Gordon Tatum."
