Note:
Rumours had it that Jim
Spiro bought 0808 in June 14th 2002 for $5,5mio.This
was rumored already in June 2002 (!) and as luck would
have it Mr. Spiro bought 0808 later at the RM auction.
For the correct history, please note the letter below
of Mr. Spiro's counsel:
"Dear Webmaster
of Barchetta:
I am the attorney for Fantasy Motors and its
principle, Jim Spiro, who hold ownership to 1962 330
TRI/LM, S/n 0808.
Your website incorrectly states that ownership of s/n
0808 passed to Jim Spiro on June 14, 2002 for 5.5
Million Dollars. This is incorrect.
Jim Spiro did not purchase this car on June 14.
Nor did his dealership Fantasy Motors.
Jim Spiro purchased this vehicle through his
dealership, Fantasy Motors at RM's Monterey sports car
auction on August 17, 2002. The bid price at
that auction was 5.9 million dollars, not including
the mandatory 10% buyers premium, which brought the
total price to approximately 6.5 Million.
Please have this information corrected on your
website. I would ask that this be changed by
Friday, September 5th, at 5:00 PM CST.
