Romano d'Ezzelino, March 12, 2001
This site is dedicated to all of you who missed one of the most complete and
astonishing Maserati displays which could be seen in the last decade.
From October, the 22nd 2000 to March, 18th 2001 the ‘Luigi Bonfanti’ museum in
Romano d’Ezzelino, Italy showed an outstanding and incredible special exhibition
including all the milestones Maserati has produced in its long life !
And not only Maserati cars but also some nice rare examples of Maserati motorbikes
were presented together with the Timossi-Maserati record speedboat from 1954
which is propelled by a 150 S engine (s/n 1649).
The Panini – West SrL – Collection contributed i.e. the 420 M Eldorado Special,
Maseratis last supercar, the Barchetta and a 6 CM-1500 monoposto which was raced
by Fritz Gollin from Erfurt, Germany as first owner in 1937.
Two of the most original Maseratis were loaned from the Biscaretti Museum, a
Maserati Tipo 26 B and the 250 F s/n 2505.
Unfortunately this exhibition came to an end to soon and just before Maserati can
celebrate the 75 year anniversary.
On April, the 25th 1926, a Maserati car was entered for the first time in a race: Alfieri
Maserati drove together with Guerino Bertocchi the Targa Florio with the brand new
Tipo 26:
They finished first in class ! What a start. Now, with 75 years of – sometimes painful –
history between, only those victories count. And the biggest win was and is that
Maserati has survived at last !
Happy Birthday Maserati. We look forward for the next 75 years !
