Following the free training sessions and drivers briefings on Friday, the Saturday
morning started with the qualifying sessions for the F355 Challenge teams. The nice
sunny weather did not give us a clue of what was to expect at the end of the day.
Consequence of the accident during the Shell Historic Challenge in Imola, unfortunately
a lot of the Maserati didn't show up in Vallelunga. Business responsibilities forced
Wolfgang Wegner Bscher with the Maserati 4CL to skip this event. The Ferrari 275
GTB/C series I #7271 owned by Jose Albuquerque was already shipped to Vallelunga
when business called for the Polish guy too. ... more >>> |
The inaugural Goodwood Revival Meeting was held in September 1998, under
superb clear blue skies, and left visitors in awe over the attention to detail that gave
the impression of being in a fifties time warp. This meticulous preparation
immediately placed the event at the top of every Classic enthusiast’s list of ”must
visit” meetings. In 1999 rain affected the event but didn’t detract from the ambience,
and even added its own special ingredient on the track, more >>> |

The possibly most famous event for historical cars in the world – the Mille Miglia Storica
– did again attract a high number of Ferrari this year, 33 to be more precise. The weather
during this year’s "Mille" was great most of the time, although it did rain heavily when the
cars arrived back in Brescia on Saturday evening. But the Italian rain in May is just typical
and has become an essential part of the Mille Miglia already for the regular participants. |
One week prior to the 500 Kilometers of Spa-Francorchamps – the third heat of the 1999
ISRS – the manager of the series, John Mangoletsi, proudly spread good news: He had
just received the permission by the FIA to rename the ISRS into "Sports Racing World
Cup", which clearly proves the FIA’s trust in the success of the just two-years old sports
racing series. For the rest of the season, the ISRS will yield a double name, but from
next year on it will simply be the SRWC. ... more >>> |

The 1999 International Sports Racing Series (ISRS) seems to become a repetition of the
last year’s edition: In the second race, the highly traditional 1000 Kilometers of Monza,
Emmanuel Collard and Vicenzo Sospiri drove to their second win of the season. The two
drivers had already been dominating the ISRS last year when they gained the
championship title in their Ferrari 333 SP in an impressive way. more >>> |
In 1999, the Tour de France Auto did celebrate its 100th birthday since the famous

Peter had introduced one novelty: For the first time, the route lead the competitors to two
