Maranello, 8 January, 2009
Until 30 April 2010, the Galleria Ferrari is staging an exhibition titled
“Non Solo Rosse”, which is dedicated to the part that colour has
played in the company's products and history. The central core of the
exhibition, centred in the Galleria's temporary exhibition room, is a
range of paintings by the renowned Italian artist Enzo Naso, whose
works are held in high regard by automobile art connoisseurs
worldwide, and have appeared in numerous official Ferrari
publications over the years, including the logo for the 50th anniversary
celebrations. The beautifully produced thick official catalogue for the
exhibition (40 Euros) is based on his works, with a wide selection
spanning the years, many of which do not form part of the Galleria
display.
Of course red in various hues forms the main part of the Ferrari's on
display in the Galleria, starting with the factory recreation of the 1947
125 model, alongside a F2008 F1 car, located at the entrance to the
ground floor area, which is occupied by a wide variety of Ferrari
monopostos spanning the company's history. At the intermediate
level there is an attractive pair carrying Ferrari's racing red, a 1971
512M sports racing model, chassis # 1028, and the 1967 330 P4
based CanAm car, chassis # 0858. The lower circular auditorium
display featured a range of models, highlighted by the latest V8 model
from the factory, a 458 Italia in a bright three-coat Giallo Modena paint
finish.
In the upper gallery adjacent to the temporary exhibition gallery there
was the regular selection of cars and engines, including a Dino 246
GT, a Testarossa, a F40 and a F50. Apart from the artwork, the
special exhibition area also featured a 430 Scuderia bare body shell
to show the overall paint finish quality, a front lid showing the 3 layer
paint finish applied to all Ferrari cars, a 275 GTB/4 in solid Giallo
Modena of the period, and a FXX in Blu Tour de France with Bianco
Evo highlights. There is also the artist's proof of the one- off special
paint finish for the unique 599 GTB Fiorano China Limited Edition
model, by artist Lu Hao, which was inspired by the Ge Kiln china of
the Song Dynasty, with a delicate pastel green finish and simulated
cracks. Together with this are the colour tests to achieve the desired
“Oro” paint finish on the recently announced latest delivery from the
factory's SP (Special Projects) division, the P540 Superfast Aperta.
