Maranello, 16 - 17 April 2011.
Over the weekend of 16 - 17 April, the Museo Ferrari (as the
Galleria Ferrari is now called) and its surroundings hosted the
Musei Da Gustare Un Museo Tira L’Altro gathering, featuring a
variety of activities, including a classic car display, food and wine
tasting, together with the opportunity to watch the Chinese Grand
Prix with like minded fans in the Auditorium Enzo Ferrari in the
centre of Maranello on the Sunday morning. The Museo Ferrari
had extended opening hours for the event, and visitors were given
a 2 Euros discount on the normal entry price. The entry ticket had
a bonus, in that it allowed visitors to take a free shuttle bus
service to visit the Castello di Spezzano and the Museo della
Ceramica, to increase their cultural awareness beyond the
automobile.
The gathering also featured the presentation of a new book “Alfa
Romeo. Gli anni di Arese - la fabbrica, gli uomini, le automobile”,
written by Danilo Moriero and published by Nada Editore, with a
number of the people involved in the “Arese Years” in attendance.
There was also a photographic exhibition “Il mondo Ferrari dal
1947 al 1997” outside the museum, presented by the “Club
Meccanici Veterani Formula 1”, which formed a pleasing
backdrop to the cars on display. There was also the opportunity
to visit the Alfredino Ferrari technical school, a short walk down
the road, which had an open day on the Sunday.
The gathering was also on the route of a touring rally on the
Sunday, primarily for Fiat 500s, but also featuring other classic
examples of the marque, and in the car show itself there were
numerous variants of the iconic small car on display. These
ranged from well preserved original examples, to some highly
modified “hot rods”, featuring customised interiors, body kits and
wild paint jobs. Amongst the other Fiats on display were a rare
pre-war Ardita 2500 saloon, and a beautiful Dino Spider finished in
silver. Blessed with warm weather and bright blue skies, it was a
pleasant way to while away a lazy Sunday, which concluded with
a concert by the Red House Blues Band, formed of Ferrari
employees.
