Under a bright sun and with a numerous of audience, Maxime
Soulet and Marc Goossens won the opening race of the Belcar
Endurance Championship in the ProSpeed Competition Porsche
911 GT3-R at Circuit Zolder in Belgium.
At 11.00 pm the light jumped to green for the first time season for
the start of the GT’s and touring cars of the Belcar Endurance
Championship for a race of 180 minutes. After a few laps a
beautiful quartet had formed in the front of the field led by Bert
Longin (Audi), continue with Marc Goossens (Porsche), Anthony
Kumpen (Mercedes) and Francois Verbist (Audi). Behind them
followed in a short distance by both the Aston Martin’s.
Goossens took the lead after 30 minutes, but the difference from
his three pursuers remained low.
The differences in the top-3 remained low for some time and it
seemed like we would get a final sprint to the finish, until 20
minutes before the end the KRK Racing Mercedes from Kumpen
and Wauters came to rest with a loose wheel.
In front it was the ProSPeed Competition Porsche with Goossens
and Soulet who won the first race with 26 seconds before the
Audi of Longin and Maassen. Third place was for the Aston Martin
with Hooydonk and Verbergt, who raced half a race without a
coupling.
Porsche also won the battle in the GT Open, with a top-3 for the
German manufacture. Patric and Dylan Derdaele finally made it,
thanks to a late splash and dash of the Level Racing Porsche of
Bert Redant and Chris Mattheus. The Speedlover Porsche 997 of
Maarten Makelberge and Lars Kern finished in a third place.
The next race of the Belcar Endurance Championship is next
weekend on the 24th of April again at Circuit Zolder, together with
the WTCC.
