The Coppa Milano Sanremo was a famous italian race held from
1906 to 1973. In 2003, the first historic revival of this race was
organized by MAC Group.
This year, 119 teams coming from 13 different countries gathered
March 11 through 13 2011 for the 9th edition of this nice
commemorative race from Monza and Milano to the Italian Riviera.
Eligible cars must have been built between 1906 and 1981, and
many different marques and models were represented, including a
nice selection of Jaguar Type E to honor the 50th birthday of that
model.
Winner of the race was Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 of the italian team
Moceri/Labate.
Four Ferrari were entered: a 275 GTS (dnf), two 275 GTB (s/n
08209 and 08497) and a 308 GTB Vetroresina (s/n 19093).
For the first time this year, some Ferrari owners could enter their
car (built between 1982 till today) in the Ferrari Gran Tour, racing
same route, but leaving and arriving one hour before the historic
race. 27 teams from 5 nations participated in this event. Among
them many F430 and modern Californias, one could notice a few
"modern rarities": a bicolor Russian 612 Scaglietti, a 575
Superamerica, a 16M Scuderia spider and the latest 599 GTO.
The oldest Ferrari entered in the Gran Tour was the 512 TR of
team Verghini/Fuso from 1992, which was also the winner of the
regularity race.
