Today the Tour Auto started with its first leg that will also be the longest of the
days. At 6:30 am the cars left the Place de la Concorde to head for Montlhery
for the official start of this years edition. Some participants could not await to go
on the road as several cars were waiting minutes before the start to be flagged
of. Within minutes the cars disappeared in the Parisian traffic in several
directions as coming out of Paris is usually the toughest part |
After the usual week long build-up, with all the regular technical verifications,
practice and qualifying sessions, the 79th running of the race took place over
the weekend of 11 – 12 June in front of 249,500 spectators. In qualifying the
works Audis just proved to have the quicker pace, with the # 2 R18 TDI of
Fassler / Lotterer / Treluyer claiming pole position from the sister # 1 car of
Bernhard / Dumas / Rockenfeller by a mere 0.061sec. Next up were a pair of
