Cernobbio, 23rd - 25th of May
Class F was named “Le Fuoriserie” that means special edition
including special designs and show prototypes. Based on the
Hudson Jet was a very small series of Touring designed Hudson
Italia.

Just as the Mercedes-Benz 230 SL Pininfarina Prototype this
showed that the Italian design was also seen on foreign cars. A
very special design based on the Ferrari 250 GT SWB was the
Bertone version (1739GT) that was shown at the Geneva Salon in
1960. Whereas the normal Pininfarina design is very round the
Bertone Coupe features a longer rear with proper boot and a
different interior with different dashboard and gear lever. A much
bigger bonnet also made the engine more accessible and might
be very popular by the mechanics but the Bertone SWB stayed a
one-off just as its Aston martin counterpart, the Jet. The SWB is
also a very good indicator for the development of the market as it
failed to sell 5 years ago at the RM Auction in Maranello at 1.6
Mio € to be sold last December also by RM in New York for more
than 7 Mio $.
Even more exciting was the Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 CM Superflow
IV. Based on a racing chassis driven by Fangio to a second place
at the 1953 Mille Miglia this “street version” featured a big sliding
plexiglass roof giving the driver almost the feeling of a convertible.
Best in class went to the radical Abarth 2000 Scorpione, also
designed by Pininfarina in 1969 with very low lines. With very little
ground clearance every small bump in the gardens of the Villa
D´Este was a challenge but the experienced mechanics had
several wooden panels to get the car on its intended space.
