entrance of the factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, which is a
historic small town in the countryside, approximately mid way
between Bologna and Modena. A bonus of its location right on
the factory premises is that one will see cars being taken out on
test, and maybe even spot the odd prototype. The factory is on
the main SP 255, Via Modena, on the outskirts of the town, but
within walking distance of the historic centre, and is still the site
on which Ferruccio Lamborghini established the original factory in
1963. |

The 1963 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight Competition – number

built, and is the 1963 Australian GT Championship-winning car.

original miles and has had just three owners from new. This car
is, without question, one of the best, most original examples of
the Factory Lightweights in existence. |
A one-of-a-kind LaFerrari, offered from Ferrari’s own collection,

be built and, in the spirit of Ferrari’s fuori serie tradition, each one
will be tailored specifically to the customer’s requirements. |

modern-era, limited-edition Aston Martin Zagatos to the docket
for its upcoming Paris auction, alongside one of the rarest
Porsches ever offered for public sale, the one-of-one Porsche 901
Cabriolet Prototype. Considering their individual rarity, early
chassis numbers and bespoke one-off features, the trio is set to
turn heads when they go under the hammer in Paris, 8 February
during the world-famous Rétromobile week. |
If early entries are anything to go by, RM Sotheby’s 2017 Amelia
Island sale will feature one of the most thrilling offerings ever
presented in Amelia Island auction history. The official auction
house of the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance today
announced a superb 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta and
a 58-car private collection as the latest highlights for its 2017

mailed to prospective entrants. Applications are due back to the
Concours office on January 9, and hopeful applicants can expect
to learn their fate by April. |

Bentleys, the sale spans more than a century of the finest motor

fifth in its class. |

Known as the Car of Kings, the 1928 Mercedes-Benz Type S
26/120/180 Supercharged Sports Tourer with coachwork by

The stacked intake pipes tell a unique story of innovation,
unyielding power and a time when the only rules of racing were
essentially the limits of men and women’s imaginations. |
With the New Year only 2 weeks old the international concours
circuit had an early start with the fourth annual Concours of
Elegance at the Arizona Biltmore hotel. For many years
Scottsdale is a synonym for the first big auctions of the year
including RM Sotheby´s, Gooding & Company, Bonhams, Russo
& Steele and certainly the top dog Barrett & Jackson. But for the
fourth time the international collectors did not only have the
chance to take a new car back home from Scottsdale but also
bring one of their treasured collector cars to the first concours of
the year. |
The Autosport International Show in conjunction with the
Performance Car Show, the latter supported by Autocar
magazine and PistonHeads.com, was held at the National
Exhibition Centre in Birmingham between 12-15 January 2017.
The first two days of the show had a hall for a race engineering
show, as they were geared more to the motor sport professionals
than to the enthusiast, whilst over the weekend this hall hosted a
variety of grass roots motor sport disciplines. |
RM Sotheby’s ushered in 2017 with another strong
performance in Arizona, generating $53,772,775 in total
sales with 89 percent of all lots sold at the Arizona Biltmore. The
company’s 18th annual Phoenix sale, held 19-20 January, was a
truly global event, attracting bidders from 30 countries—20
percent of which were new RM Sotheby’s clientele—once again
illustrating that Arizona is the epicenter of the collector car world
in January. |
The 1963 Jaguar E-Type Lightweight Competition became
both the most valuable E-Type and most valuable post-1960
Jaguar to ever sell at auction yesterday during Bonhams’ annual
sale of collectors’ cars. This Australian GT Championship winner
is one of the most original Factory Lightweights in existence and,
therefore, it was of little surprise when this “GTO Killer” was
bought for a spectacular $7,370,000 by a telephone bidder. |
Gooding & Company, the auction house acclaimed for selling the
world’s most significant and valuable collector cars, continued its
tradition as a market leader by realizing more than $33.4 million
at the company’s 10th annual two-day Scottsdale Auctions.
President David Gooding and Auctioneer Charlie Ross sold 106 of
126 lots for an 84% sales rate, which resulted in an impressive
average price of $315,327 per car sold. The sale, witnessed by
enthusiasts near and far, posted nine new benchmarks from
Ferrari, Bugatti, Porsche and AMC. |
Despite taking place across the channel, the Bonhams sale Les
Grandes Marques au Grand Palais in Paris on 9th February
will witness the sale of some of Britain’s finest motor cars. More
than 30 vehicles from 7 of the most celebrated British marques
will be offered, including Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls-Royce,
Jaguar and Austin-Healey. |
The selection in the 2017 sale will be wide-ranging and
mouth-watering. It includes the Hervé and Martine Ogliastro
Collection that gives prominence to the Golden Age of Motoring,
and a selection of cars highlighting the history of motor racing.
History, provenance, authenticity and realistic estimates are the
ingredients that ensure this sale is always a huge success!" |
One year after the big jubilee of the prestigious Cavallino Classic
Concours weekend Cavallino 26 opened its doors at the Palm
Beach International Raceway for the first of the two track days.
Unfortunately with raising prices over the last decade the track
activities during the weekend in Florida are getting less and less
every year as only a few brave challenge the risk of racing a
multimillion dollar car with likeminded. |
Fresh on the heels of its successful Arizona sale this past
weekend, RM Sotheby’s is thrilled to announce the latest feature
attraction for its Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance sale, March
10-11: the 1928 Bentley 4½-Litre Le Mans Sports “Bobtail”,
chassis no. KM3088. Boasting a phenomenal provenance and
race record, the ‘Bobtail’ is one of just two factory team cars to
claim podium finishes at two major endurance races in period—a
result that cements its status as one of the world’s greatest
Bentleys. |
The second day of this year’s Cavallino Classic was spent again
on the nearby Palm Beach International Raceway. After the free
practice sessions yesterday finally the hunt for the time started
this morning with the timed practice sessions. In two classes for
Drum and Disc Braked Ferrari and Maserati the drivers set their
time for the line-up in the main races the afternoon. |
The 26th edition of the Cavallino Classic today moved from the
Palm Beach International Raceway into the Breakers for the
annual Concours d´Elegance, the highlight of the Ferrari meeting
in Florida. Well before sunrise the first Ferrari were lined up in the
driveway of the luxurious hotel at the Beach. Just as in previous
years this edition featured some rare examples of the history of
the marque with the prancing horse although the jubilee edition in
2016 set the bar very high for all the coming years but even
without the numerous Best of Show winners of the past this
year’s line-up was again no disappointment. |
Rained out...The 26th Cavallino Classic came to an end today
with the final multi marque concours at the Mar-a-Lago Club in
the south of Palm Beach. The Classic Sports Sunday is always a
great way to finalize the CC in style at the luxurious retreat of
Donald Trump and this year’s edition was even more in the focus
being the property of the new elected president. Jokes where
made upfront about Winter White House or White House South
but to the surprise of all attending guests the security measures
did not differ in the slightest from the previous year. |

From exuberant 1930s French design to one of the most
compelling and recognizable coachbuilt Ferraris of the Enzo-era,
the two curvaceous motor cars will be on show at RM’s
Rétromobile stand, 8-12 February, ahead of their respective
presentations at the company’s Lake Como, Italy, and Monterey,
California sales later in the year. |
The star lot of the night was the beautiful 1934 Alfa Romeo Tipo
B P3, one of the most important and coveted of all pre-war Grand
Prix cars. Campaigned by Scuderia Ferrari during the 1934 and
1935 seasons, it was driven by many of the most significant
Grand Prix pilots of the era, including Nuvolari and Varzi. An
important and iconic piece of motor sport history, the car fully
deserved the €3,920,000 it achieved. The second biggest seller
on the night was the 1973 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Spider,
a very rare car offered in outstanding condition with only 20,314
miles on the clock. The car attracted huge attention and brought
€2,156,000. |
Soon after the start of the Classic Car season in Scottsdale with
the first auctions of the year the attention went over to Paris with
the first major event of the European season. The Retromobile
certainly is the most important indoor show on the continent,
although not the biggest it always attract a lot of attention due to
the unmatched quality of the cars on display. Visitors, collectors
and journalists from all over the world head to the Parc
d´Exposition at the Porte de Versailles every first week in
February, both dealers and the classic car departments of the
large manufacturer offer their cars, goods and services to the
international clientele. |

berlinetta, the 812 Superfast, the most powerful and fastest
Ferrari in the marque’s history. |

Concours d'Elegance, the third annual Bonhams Amelia Island

annual Members' Meeting Sale. An outstanding range of motor
cars will be offered, encompassing over 100 years of motor racing
history and some of the sport’s biggest names. |
Just three weeks after the sensational Retromobile Show in Paris
the German car show scene starts into the 2017 season with the
Retro Classics in Stuttgart. Although Stuttgart is a beautiful city
and famous for their local car manufacturers Porsche and
Mercedes-Benz certainly the “Neckar-metropolis” is far less
glamorous than the “City of Love” and so is the trade show in the
modern trade centre near the airport. Ideally located and
state-of-the-art built a few years ago the venue is the perfect
location for an international show easy to reach both by car and
plane. |
The first of two days of Ferrari tests at the Circuit Paul Ricard in
Le Castellet, France, has concluded. The meeting was the first
event of the F1 Clienti and XX Programmes season. Forty cars
were involved, including 11 single-seaters and nearly 30
extraordinary cars like the FXX K, 599XX, 599XX EVO and FXX. |
Ferrari has lost one of its greatest drivers. John Surtees has
passed away in his native England at the age of 83. Born in
Tatsfield on February 11 1934, Big John, as he was fondly
known, won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1964 with
Ferrari, becoming the only driver in history to claim both the F1
and motorcycle grand prix world titles. |
Two shows for the price of one! As an entry ticket for one
automatically gave you access to the other. Both interesting in
their own rights, and both under one roof although in separate
halls of the Excel exhibition centre in East London, with a bonus
of plentiful visitor parking at a reasonable daily rate, good
transport links via the Docklands Light Railway to the centre of
London and transport link hubs, with London City Airport also
close by for international visitors. |
The 15th edition of the Race Retro show was held at its regular
venue at Stneleigh Park near Coventry, over the weekend of 24 –
26 February. A new organisation at the helm there was the
promise of an even bigger and better show, and it didn’t
disappoint. One of the new features was the Motor Sport Hall of
Fame around the Live Stage in Hall 3, with one of the displays
featuring the 50th Anniversary of the Cosworth DFV engine, with
a selection of F1 cars that had used the ubiquitous V8 power
plant over the years, including a Lotus 49, the car in which it
made its maiden appearance. |

automobilia, attracting a truly global audience with bidders from
25 countries. Significantly, 21 percent of bidders represented first

Island Auction held on March 10, 2017. The auction house

Porsche 911. |
Held at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club, the classic motorcar

Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance – witnessed an increased
number of international bidders over previous years in addition to
the strong base of American clients. With multiple nationalities
represented onsite, online and on the telephones, the sale’s pace
was refreshingly brisk while the island atmosphere pleasantly
relaxed. Achieving an 87% sell-through rate and a total of
$10.2-million, the auction was a resolute success. |
For the fourth consecutive year the Earl of March and his team
invited the members of the Goodwood Road Racing Club to the
Members Meeting. Originally held until 1966 the members
meeting came to an end when the circuit closed its doors due to
the increasing speed of the race cars and the dated layout of the
track. In 1998 finally the rebuilt circuit was reopened for historic
racing with the known successful history of the Goodwood Revival
Meeting, one of the best known and most visited classic car
events in the world. |
RM Sotheby’s, the official auction house of the esteemed
Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, is thrilled to announce that it
will auction what many consider the so-called ‘holy trinity’ of
modern hypercars at its upcoming Villa Erba sale, 27 May, on
the shores of Lake Como, Italy. Revving up to go under the
hammer at next month’s sale is a ’Paint to Sample’ Porsche 918
Spyderfeaturing the highly desirable Weissach package, a very
rare road-going McLaren P1 GTR, and an ‘as new’ Ferrari
LaFerrari, sporting just 180 kilometres. |
On 13 May, Bonhams will return to Aston Martin Works at
Newport Pagnell for their 18th annual Aston Martin sale, an event
exclusively dedicated to the celebration of the Aston Martin and
Lagonda marques. More than 65 years of the legendary British
brand will be offered, ranging from a 1951 Lagonda DB 2.6
Drophead Coupé (£12,000-16,000) to a 2016 Aston Martin
Vantage GT12 (£350,000 - 400,000). |
Representing an impressively contrasting yet wholly
complimentary aspect to a classic car auction, Bonhams has
curated its annual Greenwich sale with a striking selection of
modern supercars. To be hosted the first weekend of June in
conjunction with the Greenwich Concours d’Elegance, just 30
miles north of New York City, Bonhams will be offering several
modern high-performance cars of distinction. |
90 years ago one of the most demanding road races was
introduced with the 1000 Miles of the MM through Italy. With very
bad roads as one could see in samples at the anniversary
exhibition in the Museo Mille Miglia the blast though the Italian
countryside was a torture both for cars and the drivers and unlike
today winning or even just completing the MM certainly was a
proof of quality for the manufacturers of a rising car market.
Winning on Sunday and selling on Monday was still true as the
wealthy gentlemen driving these sports cars did want to have
competitive and reliable material. |
Gooding & Company, reveals a pair of Mercedes-Benz 300 SLs,
a Gullwing and a Roadster, that come from single family
ownership. The Mercedes-Benz 300 SL has always been revered
as a pinnacle of design and engineering, with highly original
examples that showcase limited mileage and long-term
ownership being the most coveted by collectors. Such is the
case with these recently found cars. |
On 10 September, Bonhams will return to the manicured chateau
lawns for its Chantilly Sale, where some of the most remarkable
motor cars will be displayed and auctioned. The 1957
Mercedes-Benz 300 SLS Competition Roadster
(€1,500,000-2,500,000) is a truly remarkable vehicle. It is entirely
unique, and was inspired by the legendary American driver, Paul
O'Shea, who took the racing world by storm during the 1950s. |
The annual Auto Italia magazine Italian Car Day at the
Brooklands Museum in Surrey was held under rather grey skies,
that brightened up as the day progressed, on Saturday 29 April.
The museum complex is currently undergoing a major
refurbishment, with the relocation of the main hangar and other
building works, so it wasn’t looking at its best with a number of
areas fenced off due to this, thus not providing the most elegant
of backdrops to many of the car displays. |
C´est fini! The 26th Tour Auto is in the history books as another
memorable edition of the annual tour through the Grande Nation.
Over 2500 km on five days including 11 special stages and an
additional 4 races at the circuits of Le Mans, Val de Vienne, Albi
and Pau made this one of the longest and most demanding
editions for the cars and crews in recent history of the TAO. 242
teams started on Tuesday morning from the Grand Palais in
Paris for the cruelling chase through the French country side and
not few got a few scars on their alloy, steel or GFK body. |
Since the beginning of the motorization an automobile was much
more than just a machine bringing its passengers from one point
to another, it was always an expression of the lifestyle of the
owner and a status symbol, be it because of its speed or its
design. Soon after Bertha Benz undertook the first tour with the
Benz Patent Motorwagen the first races were introduced to
compare drivers and cars in reliability and speed and it was just a
question of time when they were competing in design as well. |
RM Sotheby’s is thrilled to announce an historic sale held in

attention of the global motoring community throughout 2017. |

Techno-Classica Essen is unattained till today and is based on
the principle of the organiser S.I.H.A. to present the visitors from
more than 40 nations a selection from the best of all fields of the
classic hobby. |
More of half of this year’s Tour Auto is driven. Today was the third
day leading from Nantes to Limoges with another 2 timed special
stages in the countryside and the visit to the race track in Val de
Vienne. For the last time the competition class 3 lead the way
early in the morning when just after a glorious sunrise the cars
left the castle yard at Chateau de Goulaine where they spent the
night out of the sight of the public as this was one of the few
occasions where the paddock were not accessible for spectators. |
The Blancpain race series for GT3 cars was at the Paul Ricard
circuit in the South of France, for the 1000kms race on the
Saturday evening running from 18.00 into darkness, finishing
around midnight. The main race was supported by two races
each for the GT Sports Club series for gentlemen drivers, two
rounds of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo series, together with four
demonstration periods for the Ultracar & GT1 Sports Club

German motor cars proved particularly popular today, with half of
the top ten lots coming from the Mercedes and Porsche
marques. The star of the show was the perennially popular 1958
Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster, which achieved an
astonishing €1,127,000 against a pre-sale estimate of
€600,000-800,000. After a lengthy duel between two keen
bidders, the hammer finally fell to an international buyer on the
phone to a tremendous round of applause. |
Bonhams is delighted to make another exciting announcement
about this summer’s forthcoming collector car auction: the
addition of three rare and exquisite automobiles bodied by three
famed Torinese coachbuilders. |
On Friday 30 June, Bonhams will be celebrating all things fast at
its Goodwood Festival of Speed sale. Ten Porsches are set to
appear on the rostrum, with two particularly rare and significant
examples leading the pack. Whilst the 356 Speedster has quite
rightly become one of Porsche's most desirable models, the 1957
Porsche 356A Carrera Speedster GS/GT (£900,000-1,000,000)
is in a league of its own. |
In the roaring twenties and the flamboyant years before WWII
there were a lot of marques in the top market and international
racing scene that did not make it into the times of mass
production after the war. Some of them disappeared into the
history books, others did leave such an impression that their
name was revitalized some time later so when looking at today´s
Bugatti Chiron as the status symbol of the Volkswagen group
one is reminded at the glorious history of the cars from
Molsheim. |
The exclusive event has taken place from 5 to 9 May in Tuscany.
It is based in Forte dei Marmi from where the cars set off to
explore this wonderful region. Ferrari conceived the event in order
to bring its customers from all over the world to famous places in
Italy, promoting Italian excellence in art, history, and gastronomy
together with local specialities. |
The Prescott Speed Hill Climb, a fraction over a kilometre in
length, near the village of Gotherington in Gloucestershire, home
of the Bugatti Owners’ Club, hosted the annual La Vie en Bleu
meeting incorporating La Vita Rossa, which they introduced in
2016. This was very apt in 2017, Ferrari’s 70th anniversary year,
and also the 50th anniversary of the Ferrari Owners’ Club in the
UK. |

Great Britain is very well known both for traditionalism and
sportsmanship and few things combine these two key virtues just
as vintage motorsport. Like Silverstone became the home of
British Motorsport over the last decades it is undoubtedly
Goodwood for historics. With the two major events in early
summer and autumn both the hill climb in front of Goodwood
house as well as the races at the motor circuit attract more
people than any other classic event and might be only second to
the actual British GP. |
Thirty years have passed since the official presentation of the
F40, which took place on 21 July 1987 at the Civic Centre in
Maranello, now home to the Ferrari Museum. Created to
celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary, it was the last car to
carry the founder’s “signature”. It was a definitive car, the ultimate
expression of the technology thus far developed by the Prancing
Horse, but at the same time it went back to Ferrari’s roots when
racing cars were also road vehicles. |
Leading the pack, RM Sotheby’s is delighted to present one of
the 161 original road-going GT2s for public sale. This 1996
Porsche 911 GT2 was delivered new to Germany, where it
remained with its original private owner for nearly two decades,
covering just over 18,000 km. Now residing in the UK, it is offered
in London with a pre-sale estimate of £675.000 - £750.000, and in
stealthy black over black. |
After visiting the Laguna Seca Pre-Reunion the weekend the
Monterey Classic Car Week finally is here with a slow start as
Monday still is the only day nobody set up a show. So the first
visitors and cars arrived in Monterey to set up their base in the
various hotels or rented houses and cars are stored and prepared
for the week to come. This is the day to visit the open house at
Canepa Motorsports a few miles north. |
After spending the day at the first Concours yesterday the

be very selective with his time. We started early in the morning
with the auction preview of the official auction house of the Pebble
Beach Concours, Gooding & Company. |

The 250 GTO rally has arrived at Maranello. Fifty-five years down
the line this venerable road and racing car is still one of the most
famous and admired Ferraris of all time. Over the last week 20

Based in Florence, the 250 GTOs crossed the hills of Chianti
and, in honour of a rich history of sports victories, showed off their
powers at the Mugello circuit. |
First a little history revision on the Caramulo museum - it is
situated in the spa town of the same name, high in the hills of the
Caramulo mountain range, about 120kms south east of Porto in
Portugal. The art and car museum was the brainchild of the
brothers Abel and Joao Lacerda, who loved their town and wanted
to give it something that would attract visitors, and keep it alive,
after the sanatorium that had been its main source of
employment and income closed in the early fifties. |

eventually achieved a world record €1,200,000 with all proceeds
benefitting the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation. |

time, the car achieved an incredible €3,360,000. |

One day after the convoy left the French Capitol the second leg of
this year’s Tour Auto led from yesterday’s finish Saint-Malo to the
suburbs of Nantes. Apparently Saint-Malo was a first on the map
of the annual classic and so not just the finish of yesterday’s leg
but also the first part of todays was a refreshing new to the tour. |
The 34th annual Auto e Moto d’Epoca show was held a Padova’s

offerings in the sales areas, the opportunity to do so. The 2016
edition attracted over 100,000 visitors, so it can be seen that the
show is magnet for car and motorcycle enthusiasts, not only from
Italy and the rest of mainland Europe, but from as far afield as
Japan and the USA. It is the largest and best attended classic
car show in Italy, and possibly even the best attended show in
Europe. |

stunning backdrop for the Formula 1 Grand Prix. |

to hall 18 was the classic circuit arena, a 1.4kms track, which

theme when the Salon Privé opened its doors on the first
September weekend to start a busy month with that British
Contours marathon around London. |

“Driving With The Stars”, celebrating Ferrari’s 70th anniversary
with an eclectic display of Ferraris, either of the type or the actual
car, that have been owned by famous personalities, or that have
featured in films or television series. With a seventy year history
of producing some of the world’s most desirable automobiles, not

stage and screen, musicians, captains of industry, through to

Ferrari kicks off its 70th anniversary with the world premiere of its
most powerful production car yet, the 800-cv 812 Superfast. The
unveiling of this flagship V12 berlinetta is particularly significant,
as Ferrari’s noble V12 heritage has its roots in the founding of the
company, 70 years ago this year, and Ferrari remains to this day
the only manufacturer to have continuously produced sports cars
with 12-cylinder engines throughout that time. |

Saturday’s auction, the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB/C, also set a new
world auction record for the model when it garnered $14,520,000 -
the highest price achieved for the celebrated marque across all
auction houses this week. One of only 12 ever built, this unrivaled
offering is the ultimate evolution of the single-cam Ferrari
Berlinetta and its world record price illustrated the car’s historical
significance. |

prestigious 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. |
"We are thrilled to present this extremely desirable Ferrari at our

user-friendly and perfectly suited for the open road." says David
Brynan, Senior Specialist at Gooding & Company. |

Once again it is the time in the year when the classic car world is
looking towards the Monterey Peninsula for the Monterey Car

the masses invade the scene. With numerous Auctions,
Concours and meetings the racing plays an important role and a

Since the beginning of the motorization an automobile was much
more than just a machine bringing its passengers from one point
to another, it was always an expression of the lifestyle of the
owner and a status symbol, be it because of its speed or its
design. Soon after Bertha Benz undertook the first tour with the
Benz Patent Motorwagen the first races were introduced to
compare drivers and cars in reliability and speed and it was just a
question of time when they were competing in design as well. |
Few passes in the Alps have a name like the Grossglockner at
the highest mountain of the Austrian Alp region. Built in the
economy crises to vitalize the employment market and to give
the transport of goods between Kärnten and the Salzburger Land
a boost the picturesque mountain road soon became a touristic
landmark and right from the beginning the steep way up the hill
became a challenge for the motorists before WWII. But not only
the families with their small cars but also the elite of the
international racing scene in their bolides took the Grossglockner
early on. Early in the 1930s the hill climb was as popular as the
GP sport and races like at the Klausenpass attracted masses
one could barely imagine today. |
Tonight in Maranello, Italy, at the historic Pista di Fiorano during

Sotheby’s Leggenda E Passione sale. The price, double the high
estimate, was realised after as many as 12 collectors vied for the
car. |
Every first August weekend the placid gardens of the water castle
in North Rhine-Westphalia transforms into the biggest garden

after dominating the scene a few weeks earlier at the
Masterpieces at the same location they left in time to leave the
gardens to the human crowds. Founded 11 years ago the Classic
Days soon became the most popular event in Germany and so it
is neither a surprise that they won the annual price for the best
national classic car event.. |

Preston Henn, one of America’s most colourful Ferrari characters
passed away on 30 April 2017 at the age of 86. He founded his
famous T-Bird Swap Shop in Fort Lauderdale in 1963, which
initially was a drive-in movie theatre, and proved to be a huge
success for him, making him a fortune, but he still went there
every day at the crack of dawn. He has been quoted as saying “I
could be anywhere I wanna be - I wanna be right here”, such was
his passion for the empire that he had created. |

The 1956 Maserati 300 S Sports-Racer driven by Juan Manual
Fangio to victory at the Brazilian Grand Prix will be offered at
auction during the Pebble Beach/Monterey Car Week. Few

favorite…one of the easiest, nicest, best-balanced sports-racing
cars ever made.” And few, if any, racers can compare to Juan
Manuel Fangio – without a doubt one of the best, if not the best,
race car drivers in world history. |
